A motif betokening good fortune, representing yang energy rising from the earth to form auspicious clouds. This prestigious, courtly pattern was used on the clothing of persons of high status since ancient times. The clouds that drift through the sky never have the same form from moment to moment. They change color in the light of the morning or evening sun, and bathed in the moonlight they bring comfort in the black of night.
