In Bhutan, nettle yarn is still produced for all sorts of traditional usage such as; bow ropes, carpets and clothing pieces that last a lifetime. With the support of the Tarayana Foundation, groups of women in Bhutan remote areas, now weave table linen and other accessories. Collected in the field, bitten, soaked into ashes water to soften it, hand spun, and then dyed using Bhutanese ancestral methods; it almost takes 5 days to complete one table runner.
