The use of shoji is declining sharply, as is the number of its craftsmen, which raises concerns about the succession of the trade. In order to preserve Shoji screens as a culture of Japan, KITOTE will continue to harmonize with modern architecture. For the “Slim Line”, we aspire to present the elegance of the kumiko/mesh and we used a 6mm thinner wood rather than the conventional 8mm used on common shoji screens.
