DRAGONFLY & SAM KASTEN
Hand weaver
According to Sam Kasten, the threads that compose his cloths guide his inspiration. Whether silk ribbon from Japan or linen from Belgium, he weaves the world, its past, present and future. His one-of-akind training under the guidance of Andy Oates, an advocate of Bauhaus aesthetics, have turned him into an exceptional weaver whose philosophy led him to remove himself from trends in order to draw inspiration only from his yarns, his customers, his projects. A two-hour drive from the Domaine des Etangs brought us to Sam Kasten’s studio. Alone and single-handed among his looms, he weaves relentlessly, when the hour suits him. For Dragonfly, he has created huge mohair or cashmere plaids, ideal for a living room or to snuggle into dreams and softness on winter evenings
