Las Mamas

Celebrating the makers of our Andean textiles.
Our artisan family From the Andes to the northern cost of Peru, more than 250 mothers work from home to create our intricate designs. Nurturing their loved ones while collaborating with designers is quite an unconventional combination within their communities. It takes time, but it also allows them to earn a fair and personal income. Peruvian mothers are devoted, creative and we love them. Together In traditional cultures, mothers are with less opportunities for child-care and support. This makes our artisan meetings a family affair. We think its essential that our work fits hand-in-hand with family priorities. Expertise Each piece includes thousands of stitches, carefully woven by hand with a consistent tension. The unique technique of crochet tramado weaving has been passed on from their mothers over generations.
