Esma Dereboy Exclusively for Dalat Rose

ESMA DEREBOY HANDMADE CERAMIC

Sometimes words aren’t enough to describe stories.

hef Helene An, who owns many successful restaurants, decided to open up a new restaurant in one of the best locations in Los Angeles. In this new restaurant she describes her own dramatic life events. The culinary world is an important part of all cultures’ says Chef Helen An. She describes the journey she had to take and the heritage she owns by what she offers to us and helps us understand other cultures. Esma Dereboy, by listening to An’s journey and path from the refugee camp to America, created 12 different symbols that linked each part together. The patterns were applied onto the handmade ceramic traditional Vietnamese hat. The traditional Vietnamese patterns on the hat were combined with Chef An’s stories. The patterns on the hat were applied with Esma Dereboy’s unique embossing and raised pattern technique. The antique look that gave the feeling of the past was made with different colourings. Da Lat Rose restaurant, which wants to serve their noodle and soup dishes in the two-sided bowls, aims to become one of the Michelin starred restaurants with the different serving techniques.
