Closer to Canal Saint Martin and the upper Marais than to any of the typical tourist destinations — the new Providence Hotel in Paris is largely uncharted territory for hotels, and there’s no better feeling for a boutique hotelier than breaking new ground, as Pierre Moussié has discovered. Dating back to 1854, the building was formerly an hôtel de passe (a short-time hotel) before its complete renovation overseen by Parisian architect Philippe Medioni. The Penthouse suite, with a private foyer, has a cool sitting area with Maya armchairs and sofa.
