Based on our knowledge and experience, we put a new life to fishing nets and created a unique Bokashi Organko 2 Ocean kitchen composter from the obtained material. The successor of our innovative product, which also boasts the prestigious Red Dot award, will see the light of day in October. Plastic waste is not the only polluter of our oceans, as a frightening 640,000 tons of fishing nets are dumped in it every year, which pose a deadly threat to the entire ecosystem. In Skaza, we are devoting years to the waste issue, but know we turned our attention to the oceans. The latest generation of our award-winning Bokashi Organko 2 kitchen composter has been made from recycled fishing nets. Innovation, which in itself encourages a return to nature, has thus become even more sustainable. The whole process of making Bokashi Organko 2 Ocean begins with the manual collection of fishing nets in ports, at fishermen and also at shipyards where renovations of older ships are taking place. The nets are taken to a special plant, where they are ground into fine particles, followed by the implementation of fractionation procedures. There, the nets are cleaned, de-polymerized and additives are added to refresh the material. Processed granulate is formed, which is processed into a new product by injection moulding machines. This is almost entirely recyclable. The Skaza’s CEO, Robert Agnič, explained that the certified material can completely compete with the new, newly formed materials from crude oil, as all its mechanical, chemical and thermal properties have been returned to it. The idea is the result of our entire team, with the development, quality, research, innovation, technology, procurement and marketing departments involved in its implementation. As Robert Agnič says: "For the successful and efficient development of a new product, the key is the formation of a project group consisting of experts in individual functional areas." Kitchen composters provide a zero-waste lifestyle The new Bokashi Organko 2 Ocean is even more sustainable than its predecessor, as it really takes from nature and returns to it. Our kitchen composters enable a zero-waste lifestyle and organic gardening, as they turn waste into a first-class compost base, organic fertilizer for our plants and a natural cleaner for drains. Among other things, the use of Bokashi composters greatly shortens the fermentation period, and also avoids the unpleasant odours that are characteristic of classic composting. By using Bokashi composters, the amount of bio-waste is reduced by up to 25%, the carbon footprint of the household is also reduced, and circular management is introduced into the lives of users in a simple way. Two euros from each purchase to clean the oceans We strive to ensure that all of our products are made, when it’s possible, from bio-based or bio-degradable materials, in order to contribute to the protection of the environment. "We in the team deal with waste issues all the time. In the past, we were more concerned with waste in nature and on land, but now we have moved to the oceans,” commented CEO Bart Stegeman on the decision, which reaffirms the seriousness and long-term nature of our vision. The latter is also evidenced by the fact that we will donate 2 EUR from each sold Bokashi Organko 2 Ocean to clean the oceans.
