A bold, first-mover decision that's captured the world's attention. In June 2018, Boston Tea Party took the bold decision to remove all single-use cups from their 22 cafes. With well over 150,000 being trashed annually by the chain, they believed that "enough was enough"; it was time to take a stand and stop being part of the problem. Instead of single-use cups for takeaways, BTP created a Bring-Borrow-Buy scheme for cup re-use and amazingly, in less than 12 months, not only had they prevented over 150,000 cups from trash, they also cut their staff turnover to almost zero – resulting in bottom line savings to the business of close to £1m.
