Steps of creation

Colors and materials "At the beginning there is the material, the colors and their marriage. Their choice and composition are the essence of my creation. " According to ranges chosen with the greatest care, Laurine Malengreau elaborates the palette of colors and materials that will best highlight the interiors of the projects entrusted to her, from the most intimate to the most spacious. Sketches and samples The dry pastel sketch combined with Nuno's sample allows to shape and visualize as closely as possible what the monumental piece will become, and to reveal the richness and complexity of the chosen tones and fibers. Laying out the fibers Patiently, with precision, the materials are inlaid into the silk chiffon background. Then, the wool, mohair, silk or merino fibers are layered with dexterity and sensitivity. The colors blend together in delicate or deep shades. The composition is ready only when the right balance is reached. Felting and fulling By friction and the action of water and soap, cold and heat, the scales of the wool fibers open and become embedded in the silk, to transform into a non-woven textile. The result, while playing on the fineness of the materials, is resistant, without the need to resort to sewing or other binders.
