The blue of the sky and the sea of Sorrento at TASCHEN Store in Berlin.

CERAMICA FRANCESCO DE MAIO

A blue space of 300 square meters in Schlüterstraße 39 in Berlin, Germany.

A new dimension of the retail and a very bright interior design for the full display of Taschen books, designed in 2017 by the Italian designers Alberto Stampanoni Bassi and Salvatore Licitra. Licitra is the grandson of Gio Ponti and in each of the retail rooms he has given great enphasis to many of his grandfather's most characteristic designs, in particular he has used the white and blue tiles of the Blu Ponti Collection produced by Ceramica Francesco De Maio, licensee of faithful reissue for the glazes, supports and colors of the 33 decorations that Gio Ponti created in 1960 for the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento. Interior Designers have dived into L'Infinito Blue by Gio Ponti to bring and breathe a Mediterranean atmosphere to Berlin. They chose the Type 5, 11 and 21 Decors Blu Ponti, using them with various combinations to pave the rooms of the Taschen Store Berlin, each different from the other. The concept of the store, says Licitra, was to "create a gift of atmosphere", flooding the store with Mediterranean warmth, color and light not typically associated to Berlin, to give the interior the sense of playfulness, of vivacity while rediscovering Taschen’s publications.
