Pope Benedict XVI's rest chair produced by Antarte

ANTARTE

Pope Benedict XVI's rest chair produced by Antarte, is a milestone in the company's history

Antarte produced the resting chair of Pope Benedict XVI used during the visit of the Supreme Pontiff to Porto on May 14th of 2010. The priority of comfort and ergonomics and produced using noble chestnut wood and leather embossed with the logo of Benedict XVI, the chair used by the Pope was designed by the architect Audemaro Rocha. To reach the final version, three prototypes and about 76 hours of work were needed. After the celebration of the homily, Pope Benedict XVI asked for the chair to be sent to the Vatican. It was the first of a series of chairs created by Antarte for national and international reference personalities, such as José Mourinho, the former President of the Republic Cavaco Silva, or the coach Fernando Santos. For Mário Rocha, Antarte's CEO, 'the honor of having produced Pope Benedict XVI lounge chair leaves a singular mark in the brand's history. The request from the Supreme Pontiff for the lounge chair to be sent to the Vatican makes us proud and reflects the dedication put into every detail of this historic piece for a brand that is 100 percent Portuguese. To Pope Benedict XVI, Antarte gives heartfelt tribute.'
