The perfect duo
Plastic is not the enemy; lack of transparency, awareness and responsibility is. Here's why. We all know that we live in a world flooded by plastic, and at this pace it could become an actual threat. To avoid this, we have to be very aware of where this plastic comes from and also where it goes. In our sector, the design and manufacture of decorative products for the household, the most widely used one is polypropylene, the second most used type of plastic in the world. Polypropylene is a very light and resistant and can last for years, it is not affected by temperature changes, and it remains stable even after several recycling cycles. Then why do only 6.9% of companies in the furniture and household sector use recycled polypropylene? Sadly, because it is cheaper to produce it than recycle it. Given that more plastic has been produced than each one of us could need in a lifetime and 60% of it accumulates in landfills or natural environments, the only reason for not using recycled plastic is lack of awareness and corporate responsibility. That is why, at CitySens, we have been using the strategy of CIRCULAR ECONOMY since our beginning in 2015. And, although the difficulties in getting the product to be recycled once it has left our hands are big, we are adding more pieces to the gear to make it possible. In fact, when you no longer need your CitySens, you can send it back to us so we can recycle it for you, and you will get a discount for your next CitySens. With CitySens, you are part of the group of committed people who are pushing the wheel of the circular economy. Another important word for us is TRANSPARENCY. At CitySens we have always tried to be as transparent as possible and, although we know that in certain aspects we have some limitations, we want you to know that we are always looking for better and more sustainable alternatives. We have launched a transparency project that allows you know what your CitySens is made of, but also what each euro of its cost is used for. Almost 75% is dedicated to using quality materials and to ensuring that the people who form CitySens have decent salaries. Since the cost of these materials and components has increased stratospherically over the last year, we sadly have had to modify and raise our prices to carry on with our social and environmental project. The main changes have been: - About 10€ for the vertical planters. - Between 20€ to 30€ for the plant shelves and wall planters, which had a very low price with a derisory margin. In this way we can continue to ensure with you that CitySens is committed to the environment, to social awareness, to practicality and to innovation in a sustainable way.
