Het Gelders Huis
Grey woolfelt of HOLLANDFELT on the wall to enhance acoustics
Het Gelders Huis, the new province house of Gelderland, The Netherlands in Arnhem is a combination of 3 buildings: the monumental building Sabelspoort (1642), the monumental building Huis der Provincie (1954) and a new building. The buildings are fluently connected through several bridges. OTH architects were responsible for the interior design of the whole complex and together with the architect (Team V) responsible for the renovation of the Huis der Provincie. An element that OTH used is the hourglass shape that you encounter everywhere in the monumental part. This pattern returns in the new building in the facade and on the walls. With a special depth effect the wall in the big open space is covered with woolfelt of HOLLANDFELT.
