SCALA TABLES & CONSOLES
This line of leather covered furniture and objects were inspired by the “stacked” form often seen at the base of some buildings in Italy, as well as the famous heel of Salvatore Ferragamo. This selection of stools, nightstands and sideboards have an identical recurring pattern, superimposed and highlighted by deliberately thick legs, giving a delicate graphic line. Now, with a change in perspective, the same shapes and proportions become centerpieces, boxes, lanterns and vases. Wallpaper* Design Award 2018 Winner
Inès Melia sublimates everyday life
After studying art history, Inès Mélia turned to music, one of her passions, and became a DJ. For 8 years, she would liven up fashion shows, exhibitions or boutiques. But with the lockdown, the requests stopped abruptly and she naturally returned to her brushes by taking as her subject the objects around her. In the process, she also created a series of “instant sculptures” like her candlesticks made from aged cheese or a series of tissue boxes made from recovered books that were customized. “It was my way of escaping reality and putting a poetic gaze on domestic life”. These creations made a great impression at the exhibition organized this year at the 75 Faubourg gallery. By December, she should unveil new pieces such as a collection of bookmarks made of baked and varnished modeling clay, a way of expressing her passion for literature!
