KILIMS ADA
Taking by storm the world of decoration in recent years due to their popular art deco style, these ancient kilims with floral motifs have a formidable and little-known history. Also called Bessarabian kilims, they are woven entirely in sheep's wool in different parts of Moldova by Turkish-speaking Christian peoples who perpetuate a millennial tradition of flatweaving. Their motifs are inspired by cartons (sketches) of French tapestries from the Aubusson region that circulated in Moldova in the middle of the 20th century, hence their Louis XVI style.
