Design tricks our sense of perception, with furniture and accessories featuring blurred edges. Is it in 2-D or 3-D? Is it flat or does it have volume? Our eyes hesitate and doubt what they see, yet are enchanted by the transparent lightness that radiates from these objects.
The strong presence of the fabric material of the Timber armchair gives it the appearance of a comfortable cloud that seems to levitate above the ground. The floating effect is reinforced by the oak frame which disappears under the structure to appear only at the back and on each side of the armrests. The character and dynamism of the furniture is reinforced by the choice of a two-color scheme between the fabric and the wood.
AddAddAugust by Vincent Van Duysen
The Outdoor collection by Vincent Van Duysen for Serax is made of aluminium and it is available with a black or grey-green powder coating. This makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The chairs, lounge chair, and table articulate the sheer simplicity of the monastic life they were inspired by. The wider, slightly lower proportions are of this day and age and contribute modern-day comfort.
