Marie Deroudilhe
An ENSAIS graduate and a certified architect, Marie Deroudilhe began her career in interior design with Terence Conran in London. She then joined Patrick Jouin’s studio and worked for 5 years on numerous restaurant projects, including Alain Ducasse’s Mix in Las Vegas and The Dorchester in London. Having built a solid experience in overall design, with an eye for detail and an appreciation for craftsmanship, Marie Deroudilhe set up her own studio in 2009. She has completed projects in a wide range of spirits, yet each destined to last. Agence Deroudilhe was entrusted with revamping Rech, the Paris restaurant taken over by par Alain Ducasse in 2012. It was given a Scandinavian twist, illustrating the studio’s philosophy: lots of natural light, soft-edged volumes and an attention to detail which are the core values of Marie Deroudilhe’s vision as an architect. She went on to design the interiors of a private residence located rue Bleue in Paris (2016), characterised by a form of poetic minimalism, in contrast with the Michelin-starred restaurant Nomicos (2018) which combines subtle patinas and metal architectural elements, thus embracing detail on a near-monumental scale. Each project encapsulates the vision of the owner, or translates the philosophy of a chef. The studio thus adopted the playful, futuristic codes of pastry star Christophe Michalak when designing his shop, labs and offices (2013). Recent projects like Pique-Nique (2019) near Les Halles and the Lily of the Valley café (2014) in the Marais have incorporated natural elements, inviting guests to an informal conviviality under a floral canopy. Marie Deroudilhe gives careful consideration to the lasting impression a place leaves. And so the substance of her distinctive style develops with each new project. This owed Marie Deroudilhe to be listed in the top 100 designers by AD France in 2014 and 2019. In 2019 Marie Deroudilhe co-founds Way of Work, a company which borrows features from home living and hospitality sectors to create original and sustainable work spaces.
