Nathanaël Désormeaux and Damien Carrette
Studio Désormeaux/Carrette is a design studio founded by Nathanaël Désormeaux and Damien Carrette in January 2014. As an industrial design studio, its mission is to create objects for mass production. Today, the studio partners with clients that range from start-ups to major furniture and object brands. A passion for materials and a talent for object storytelling are the fundamental elements in our creative approach. Deconstruction is at the heart of our design methodology. It's through breaking down and reimagining objects in a holistic manner that we bring out their technical essence. Our work thus consists of enhancing technical qualities to not only integrate them, but transcend them, so that they become the aesthetic quintessence of the objet. Entrepreneurial to the very core, and fervent advocates of local manufacturing, we recently launched an office furniture brand: www.slean.com , with a real commitment to local manufacturing and sustainability. This is a brand that vertically integrates the furniture industry: we design, make, warehouse, and distribute the furniture, with minimal reliance on middlemen. Through this lens, our studio seeks to question current methods of production and distill a poetic approach to manufacturing objects.
