NUSA

NUSA products invite to organize, combine and arrange daily supplies in a creative way. Using techniques inherited from the Edo period, all products are made by hinoki (Japanese cypress) and left in a natural finish.

It is very common to find in Japanese temples a small cypress footed offering tray, the sanbou. Using traditional bending techniques and exclusively hinoki wood, Iwata Sanbou has been dedicated to crafting Sanbou trays since decades. The NUSA series introduces the sanbou craftsmanship into the domestic scene with a contemporary design marked by a specific attention to organize daily supplies in a creative way. Nusa is both the name of a wooden wand traditionally used in Shinto purification rituals and a combination of the two words “new-sanbou”. All products are hand made in Japan.
