BVF creates timeless furniture from “unmarketable” wood—materials overlooked by mass production yet rich in character. Each piece is numbered, recorded, and traceable, embodying BVF’s belief that true sustainability lies in longevity. Through its unique buyback system, furniture gains value over time, much like vintage wine. From Hokkaido to Paris, BVF shares the beauty of enduring design.

Based in Hokkaido, Japan’s Okhotsk region, BEFORE VINTAGE FURNITURE (BVF) creates one-of-a-kind pieces that embody the idea of “transforming the natural power of wood and the passage of time into lasting furniture.” For this exhibition, the brand presents two signature works—a rocking chair and a book-matched table—each expressing this philosophy in its purest form. The rocking chair has been designed to capture the beauty of gentle movement. Its refined lines extending from the backrest to the legs, the carefully sculpted seat, and the smooth arc of the rocker combine to create a form that reveals its true value the moment one sits down. It is a piece meant to be experienced physically, and visitors are invited to sit and feel its comfort. The book-matched table showcases the raw vitality of wood. Its symmetrical grain patterns, natural knots and cracks, and the presence of solid timber all highlight the life of the tree as it once grew. This piece serves as a strong focal point, elevating both residential and commercial spaces with its bold character. Designed to be used across both living environments and commercial interiors, BVF’s furniture grows richer with time, ultimately embodying the brand’s belief in “Furniture that can become vintage.” This exhibition offers an opportunity to encounter that philosophy firsthand.
