Residues of Fire – Arita Series
Porcelain saggar-fired during a 2026 residency at Kouraku Kiln in Arita, Japan. Each vessel is sealed in a container packed with rice straw, wood, seaweed and oxides including gosu, gathered locally. Inside, smoke, ash and vaporised minerals move freely, leaving traces the maker cannot direct or repeat. A quiet departure from the precision Arita is known for. Interiors are glazed for everyday use; exteriors keep only what the fire left.
