VALENTINE BENOIST CERAMICS

Valentine Benoist creates sculptural ceramics where the Breton coastline becomes material. Using fragments foraged along the shores (granite, sand, sea debris, shells…), each piece transforms the coastal landscape into sensory, collectible objects.

Based in Brittany, Valentine Benoist creates narrative coastal ceramics, using materials gathered from the Breton coastline. She incorporates fragments of locally foraged matters (granite, sand, driftwood, plant ash…) into stoneware, anchoring each piece in a specific place and time. Her work explores how materials carry the memory of a landscape. Mineral inclusions and organic matter form a vocabulary in which the coast becomes an archive. Sitting between sculpture, design and collectible ceramics, her coastal creations bring a touch of Brittany into contemporary spaces.
