Bent by Hand

Raka Studio is the story of three brothers, Saleh, Waleed and Rayan, who began in Lahore, Pakistan in 2018 after discovering the technique of bending wood. With no formal design training, they shape each piece freehand, guided only by a sketch rather than a blueprint, so every curve is sculpted directly in wood. This hands-on process shapes the studio’s design language: fluid, organic forms across two series, Vrksa and Fluentum, spanning lighting, seating, tables and sculptural pieces. Each piece is crafted entirely by hand, so no two are ever identical.
