MATEUS designs and crafts hand-painted ceramics in lively, decorative patterns. The company was founded in 1993 by Teresa Mateus Lundahl. MATEUS ceramics are a fusion of modern Scandinavian design and Portuguese craftsmanship.
We design our ceramics to create warmth in the home and set the stage for sharing good food and conversations around a beautifully set table. Pieces of genuine handcraft, our ceramics are made to captive your senses.
The making of ceramics is a craft where human experience and skill is crucial for the result. MATEUS has produced its ceramics in the same factory in Portugal from the start, twenty-five years ago. It’s a production on a human scale, where craftsman and machine are both indispensable, where material, tradition and design come together to create something new.
