In this weave, “Gondolas”, we had an influence on a photograph taken by the famous Armenian photographer from Istanbul Ara Güler. This photograph, which you can see on the last image in our app, represents Istanbul in the 1960s with its famous fishing boats. The negative spaces created by the silhouettes of fishing boats reminded us of the iconic Anatolian kilim pattern known as the “Parmaklı.” So, we transformed the old “Parmaklı” pattern by changing its ratios and the way the pattern is repeated so that The pattern is reminiscent of the gondolas and the famous seagulls of Istanbul.Product specifications
