Emily brings together lampshades made to hang at varying heights, drawing a luminous landscape that appears to float. Depending on the chosen height and the combination of tones, the object shifts in character and reshapes the perception of the room. Each shade is shaped by hand: cutting, bending, forming, welding and sanding. A demanding physical process that gives Emily its natural, organic geometry. The series was inspired by the "James Bond Islands" series by Andreas Gursky, where digitally arranged landforms appear to float above a flat horizon line, a luminous art object.
