Emily brings together lampshades made to hang at varying heights, drawing a luminous landscape that appears to float. The drop height selected and the pairing of finishes alter the character of the composition and redefine how the room is perceived. Every shade is formed entirely by hand: cutting, bending, shaping, welding and sanding. A demanding physical process that gives Emily its natural, organic geometry. The series was inspired by the "James Bond Islands" series by Andreas Gursky, where digitally arranged landforms appear to float above a flat horizon line, luminous geometry.
