Emily takes shape as a family of lampshades that layer freely above one another, building a suspended landscape of light. Suspension height and the pairing of tones transform its character and redefine how the room is read. Each shade is worked by skilled hands: cutting, bending, forming, welding and sanding all carried out manually. A refined artisanal process that lends Emily its natural, organic geometry. The series draws on the "James Bond Islands" series by Andreas Gursky, where digitally arranged landforms appear to hover above a flat horizon line, a unique composition.
