The Engenho side table emerges from the same poetic territory explored by Djanira in A Pamonheira: that of repeated gesture, of the dignity of work and of the discreet beauty that pervades Brazilian daily life. The intention here was to continue a similar movement, but through the language of the sculptural object. If in painting the domestic gesture becomes ritual, in this piece, the ancestral gesture is metamorphosed into volume: the repetition of the spheres, the density of the stone and the earthy tones that echo the palette of the work.
