Marāu introduces a special collection of cushions crafted from Kutnu fabric, a textile deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of Anatolia. Historically woven for Ottoman sultans and palace garments, Kutnu is known for its distinctive striped patterns, luminous colors, and the unique combination of silk and cotton threads.For this collection, Marāu worked closely with master artisans in Gaziantep, the traditional home of Kutnu weaving. Each fabric has been hand-woven on traditional looms, preserving a centuries-old craft that today survives thanks to a small number of dedicated craftsmen. Through this collaboration, the collection pays homage to the knowledge, patience, and artistry of local makers.The colors and compositions used in this series were specially developed for Marāu, making each textile unique to the collection. The result is a series of cushions that combine historical textile heritage with a contemporary design sensibility.By incorporating Kutnu into the Marāu universe, the collection celebrates Anatolia’s living craft traditions while supporting the artisans who continue to keep them alive today.
