Each cup is individually fired in a saggar — a sealed ceramic container packed with organic materials — allowing smoke, carbon, and metal oxides to interact directly with the raw porcelain surface. The result is an unpredictable landscape of amber, iron-rust, slate blue, and charcoal markings that can never be fully replicated.No two cups are alike. Even pieces fired together in the same saggar will carry their own distinct surface — shaped by the movement of fumes, the position in the kiln, and the chemistry of each firing.
