Stoneware hand candle holder, from Millian Pottery. Brown sandstone, turned, enamelled with a speckled gray blue, with darker shades where the enamel thickens. The tap, in the shape of a small pitcher with an ovoid body and a flared neck, is fixed in the center of a low cup that collects the wax. A loop handle allows it to be worn. On the body, a flower and a branch of leaves surrounded by a brown line. The reverse side of the cup, left raw, bears the indented mark “France Millian Pottery” and traces of filming. French manufacture, probably from the second half of the 20th century. The hand candle holder, or bedroom candle holder, was formerly used to light up from one room to another. This candle holder can be placed on a bedside table, shelf or dining table. Sandstone and deep blue can be suitable for bohemian chic or wabi-sabi decor as well as for a more refined interior.
