Mirror from an old wardrobe door, with oak frame. Oak of a warm brown hue, with mesh veins, with a waxed patina. Rectangular bevelled glass, framed by a fine moulding. On the right pillar, an openwork brass keyway, decorated with ribbon bows, flowers and scrolls. The back, closed by a wooden panel, protects the back side from the glass. Probable French manufacture, end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. The mirror cabinet became widespread in bourgeois interiors during the 19th century, and its doors, once separated from the cabinet, are now suitable for use as foot mirrors. This mirror can find its place in an entrance, a bedroom or a dressing room, placed against a wall or fixed. The weathered oak and antique keyway can be suitable for bohemian chic, classic or wabi-sabi decor as well as for a more refined interior. Height: 1m33, width 47 cm, depth 3 cm, weight: 11 kg. Good general condition, with a marked patina, scratches and old small insect holes on the frame, and a metal rod from the old hardware at the top.
