The DARK CAVE ANIMALS collection, designed by František Jungvirt and sculpted by master glassmaker Martin Štefánek, explores the mysterious and eerie side of the animal kingdom. Drawing inspiration from the remnants of free-thinking surrealism and postmodernism, this exclusive series of art objects deliberately confronts our deepest phobias and nightmares. Our studio pairs Jungvirt’s iconic, minimalist vase silhouettes with hyper-realistic, hand-sculpted glass figures of creatures that often spark fear or unease—such as spiders, beetles, or ravens. Each masterfully crafted unique piece is mouth-blown into wooden molds using rich, earthy and blood-red tones, and finished with a smooth, velvety matte surface. While the glass base is still hot, the detailed animal figures are meticulously fused to the body using traditional furnace shaping techniques. By inviting viewers to examine and touch these intimidating creatures from a real proximity, the collection transcends functional design, operating as a painterly, three-dimensional study of tension and beauty. Every piece within this limited edition serves as a certified, signed, and numbered masterpiece of contemporary Czech craftsmanship.
