Product description

The silk of "peace" Wild silk called Eri, coming from Erinda, the Hindi name for the castor bean on which its butterfly feeds. The cocoon is naturally opened for the metamorphosis of the caterpillar. The silk is therefore harvested in a non-violent way, without killing the chrysalis, and is thus used by many Buddhist monks. The high quality of the handicraft combines the work of the farmers, the women who spin the silk and the handloom weavers in the far northeast of India. The fineness of the Eri silk and the artisanal technique of weaving offers a great variety of weaving.
