Barbotine makes folk pottery. We were awarded the EPV (Living Heritage Company) by our government for the production methods that we use in our studio, for the robust forms we choose inspired by French gastronomy, & for slip decorations like marbling & sgraffito. The EPV recognizes that our pottery is a living French tradition. Our pottery is earthenware decorated with slip, made entirely by hand in our studio in Aubagne. This pottery is utilitarian, made for easy, everyday use, suitable for the microwave & dishwasher.
