Crashing Waves is the first ‘abstract pictorial’ kelim designed by the Soheila Shayegan Studio Cyprus. Nature, in particular the sea and rock faces of Cyprus, is a primary source of inspiration, but she has also been influenced by Zollanvari Studio’s Dreamtime Chants Collection that depicts natural phenomena in an abstract form, and stylistically, is a fusion of south Persian tribal aesthetics, Aborigine ‘soul’ paintings and contemporary artistic movements in particular Spatialism.
