This product is not available on MOM anymore.
Product description
These baskets are handmade by BaTonga craftswomen in the Munyumbwe region of southern Zambia. To make these baskets, the craftswomen use mainly palm leaves (malala), twigs (nsamu) and creeping vine (tende), strong materials that guarantee a long life for the baskets. The baskets hold special place in Tonga culture, where they are given to girls when they get married. They generally serve a utility function and are used for winnowing, storing harvested grains, and serving dry foods.
