Casablanca Luxury Spa Range

Moroccan Chic in Handcrafted Brass
The Baaya brand designed and developed a luxurious spa range that was inspired by the unique artistry of Morocco. The collection, handcrafted in Brass Pitara, incorporate design elements of the region in its dazzling geometry, Alhambra lattice work, and floral motifs in beaten brass. Pitara, is traditionally, hand-beaten brass. As a craft form, it traces its origins back to the reign of the Mughal rulers of India. Originally used to craft exquisite cutlery for the kitchens of Kings, the workmanship was later adapted to make household articles of values, especially the family treasure chest. Developing a range of spa products posed an entirely new challenge for the Baaya teams as it was unlikely to have a precedent. The studio team had to keep in mind the many rudiments or pit-stops of the spa experience as well as its Gestalt quality. The products had to be engineered for the spa environment, taking into consideration aspects such as humidity, and contact with heat and smoking oils. For the artisans, catering to these applications opened up another vertical of thinking and considerable skill transfer between the designers and the artisans. After much experimentation, a final collection took form. This included individual units of an aroma oil diffuser, a tissue box, a cotton bud holder, a jewellery box, a set of three serving trays, a pouring vessel, along with a foot rinse tray and a set of Padukas or footwear. The products can be presented in a desired finished, ranging from natural to gleaming. With careful conceptualization and application, the Baaya brand was able to make luxury the third component in an experience that is already known to be relaxing and revitalizing.
