DESIGNART TOKYO2020 Founded in 1830, Hiwadaya Co., Ltd. exhibited "kasane," an art panel inspired by traditional Japanese roofing techniques. The design, backed by 1,000 years of history, is crafted by artisans using a sustainable method: no trees are felled, only the bark is collected, and is collected again 10 years later. The gradations and unique textures created by nature have drawn attention at the show.
