In the Laines Paysannes workshops, the rugs are hand-woven on traditional looms. Thanks to the intelligence of the hand, the creations are unique, singular and their value is unequalled. Much more than a praise of slowness, the work of hand weaving, allows to free itself from the constraints of the industry and to offer to the weaver the possibility of expressing her art and her creativity. Traditional weaving is also a component of our intangible heritage transmitted by learning that we want to preserve and perpetuate. Shuttle, temple, reed, cadratin, winder, warping machine, bobbin, lices...would you have the impression to travel in a country where the language is foreign to you? The discovery of these tools: their uses, their manufacture tells us a story that continues to be written thanks to the weavers of our time who innovate in their approach and their relationship to weaving. Since the launch of the Laines Paysannes workshops, we have been committed to promoting the richness of the territory in which we are based. The wool, a local material which composes the carpets, is harvested, sorted by us and transformed in Ariège. Through the weaving of this noble material, we want to tell the story of men and women with precious know-how committed to enhancing natural and sustainable resources. But then, why do we come to Parisian trade shows, we who are fervent defenders of the local? Quite simply, because passion is something to be shared! The opportunities to meet in Paris are privileged and enriching, we who wish, through the practice of weaving, to bring another look at the craft. These carpets, through the hands that weave them, bring a modern vision of the world. The one where each one at its scale can act to build what makes sense for him. We must admit that artisanal work often rhymes with small series. These singular carpets free themselves from the norms of standardization, unfortunately too present in our lives. This is a great opportunity to come and touch, to look closely at the small details to find the unique piece that you will be sensitive to. We also hope to bring you a little piece of nature that will offer its warmth to your home. Collected each year in spring on the backs of sheep, wool is a living material. Its color and texture vary according to the climate and the seasons, it offers to the carpets a unique rendering which testifies to the hazards of nature. Well beyond a craft and usual approach of the objects, we want to share with you our artistic approach. The carpet is a way to move the lines, to draw a direction and to make our "interiors" evolve.
