Milan Design Week April 2023 - Casa Manzoni
An unexpected encounter within the walls of Casa Manzoni sees the contemporary design of La Manufacture dialogue with the history of the prestigious residence where the writer once lived.
Seven distinct rooms and an outdoor patio are the setting for three new collections by German designer Sebastian Herkner : Moss, Gem and Breeze, each one united by a reference to nature and its elements. Moos, an upholstered product with elegant and organic lines. Suggested by the germanic root of the word, Moos is evocative of the land plant that covers Bavarian forests like large, soft cushions. It is precisely this softness that inspired the designer in the design and creation of a product focused on comfort. The modularity of Moos also encourages users to play in multiple, organic ways, combining small padded islands that are suitable for intimate environments, and archipelagos for generously sized rooms. Reminiscent of a mound of rough stones built as a memorial or landmark, otherwise known as a cairn, the Gem series of tables is characterized by a playful, dynamic and modular design. Every base features rounded lines that look as though they are composed of superimposed gems or stones. They support a large dining table, or smaller coffee and side tables–the Gem series plays with shapes, sizes and colors, allowing the user to create infinite variations.
