Vanessa Brady, OBE
Dr Vanessa Brady, OBE is a multi-award-winning interior designer and business consultant; she is also the founder of one of the leading British interior design accreditation bodies, the Society of British and International Design (SBID).
Over an international career, she has relentlessly promoted the role of professional interior design and its value to the UK and global economies. She has been widely recognised for her commercial and creative achievements, both in the UK and overseas. Building an award-winning portfolio, Vanessa has worked for global luxury brands, governments and royalty. Her experience spans a diverse range of clients including Hard Rock Café, the Design Council, Kabaret Club, British Luxury Club, and Unilever. She has designed high-security government offices, created private diplomatic residences, and worked with overseas monarchs. In 2014 she launched a collaboration with the luxury yacht manufacturer Sunseeker International on the Predator II.
As a leader in commercial creativity, she has brought the business and design worlds closer together. In 2014 Vanessa was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in recognition of her services to the interior design industry and the UK economy. She has also received an honorary degree from Southampton Solent University for her industry impact. In 2013 she was named the winner of the ‘Built Environment’ category in the Women in the City Woman of Achievement Awards. She received nominations for the NatWest everywoman Awards for her career achievements and recognition within the industry in the years 2010, 2013 and 2014. An expert in the business of international design, Vanessa is a contributor to national and international media, including print publications, radio and television, notably the Sky News Press Preview. In the UK she promotes the interests of interior design in cross-party meetings at the House of Commons and House of Lords and at the Bank of England. Vanessa continues to champion the valuable role that professional interior design plays culturally and commercially in the global landscape.
