Trees are fascinating by virtue of their monumentality and simultaneous fragility of detail. The series was inspired chiefly by the detail of the bark on various trees. The designer drew inspiration not only from trees in general, he tried to transfer fragments of specific trees into another, more durable material. Each vase is named after the tree that lent it its shape and unique structure. The vases stand on the edge between sculpture and objects of everyday use, each unique in shape.
