Product description

Salad cutlery composed of a fork and a silver-plated serving spoon. The deep oval spoon is shaped by a fork with four large teeth, separated by fine slits ending in a small eyelet. The sleeves, long and narrow, widen into a rounded spatula, with the outline underlined by a fillet. The decoration, stamped in slight relief, combines a leafy attachment at the beginning of the handle, a leafy branch on the spatula and a small bay frieze at the end. This ornamental vocabulary comes from the Louis XVI style, which was common in French table silverware at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. A cutlery for serving salads, vegetables or herbs, to be placed in a large turned wooden or stoneware salad bowl on a raw wooden dining table. Length 27 cm. The silvering has a gray and satin patina, fine scratches from use on the spoons and spatulas and slight traces of oxidation, without a defect that interferes with its use. On the back of the spoons, a square stamp with the number 90 accompanied by a symbol, of the type used on French silver-plated cutlery to indicate the quantity of silver deposited, and a second rectangular goldsmith's stamp, which is difficult to read. Probably French manufacture, around the first half of the 20th century. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
