Product description
This small box is a pocket sundial, a reproduction of a Dyptique dial. Portable sundials were widely used between the 15th and 17th centuries. There were a lot of models, made of different basic materials to luxurious ivory, beautifully decorated or for everyday use. The gnomon or the rope will mark it with its shadow the local solar time (not always coincide with the official time). For a correct measurement, the compass inside should indicate North (XII).
