Nautical astrolabe

For lovers of history: with this nautical Astrolabe famous sailing since the 15th century, have found their position. This instrument is a reproduction of the nautical Astrolabe called “Valencia” for the Irish island that it was found, and belonged to the Army of Philip II (16th century). It is housed in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. The nautical astrolabe is a simplification of the planispheric or astronomical astrolabe and its fundamental purpose is to obtain a latitude, by observing the altitude of the Sun or other stars such as the polar star.
