The astrolabe was the most sophisticated astronomical instrument to be designed before the telescope. The original of this planisferic astrolabe was made by Diya'al Din Muhammad (Lahore, 1647). The original is at the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, Chicago (USA). Combining a rudimentary observation tool and an elegant analog computer, the device was used for multiple tasks: from estimating time to measuring heights to drawing horoscopes. It has been updated to make it functional. It has been set to 22° latitude (Mecca).Product specifications
