This small Pocket Sundial is a reproduction of a Dyptich dial.Portable sundials were widely used between 15th-17th Centuries. This model has a Rose of the Winds, a classic figure on compasses, maps or nautical charts, used to display the orientation of the cardinal directions. It has a paper top.These ancient clocks were made of different materials from wood to ivory, beautifully decorated or for everyday use.The string (gnomon) will mark it with its shadow the local solar time (different from official time).
