Kamakura-style Hanko Seal (Kamakura Bori) The history of hanko in Japan goes back 2,000 years. The city of Kamakura has been one of the most significant locations for hanko crasfmen for over 1,000. Kamakura-style hanko seals, or Kamakura Bori, are caracterized by thieir intricate seal carvings and handpaited lacquer patterns. From seal drafting to final touches, it takes an average 3 months to complete. Kamakura Hanko produces hanko seals for personal, professional and corporate use.
